El Gibhor

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God."

Isaiah 9:6.

The name "El Gibhor" consists of two Hebrew words, "El" and "Gibhor".

The Hebrew word "El" has multiple meanings, including "god," "deity," "light," and "sunray." In the Hebrew Bible, "El" is the most common name for God. This signifies God's eternal and self-existent nature. It's usually translated as "I AM," indicating, first of all, that God exists and, secondly, that He is about to reveal some aspect of Who He is.

The Hebrew word "Gibhor" implies strength, mightiness, and bravery. It represents a warrior, hero, or champion who possesses superior power and authority. "Gibhor" appears 159 times in the Old Testament. In the Hebrew Bible, it is used to describe people who are valiant, mighty, or of great stature.

"El Gibhor" is a Hebrew phrase that translates to "Mighty God" or "God the Mighty One" in English. Christ Jesus is our "Mighty God"; He is not a hero or some great ruler. He reigns in heaven and is Lord over all creation. He is fully God and fully man and worthy of our worship. Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the only True, Living God.

So when we're faced with situations like Daniel in the lions' den, David and Goliath, or Job losing his family, we can have faith in our "El Gibhor" to protect and defeat our enemies. Praise Like Job
