Abba

"Abba" is the Aramaic word meaning "Father." It's a term of warm affection, intimacy, respect, and obedience. For some of you, that may sound like an irreverent way to address God, but Jesus called God, "Our Father," and  He gave us that same right.

As sons and daughters of Almighty God, His position in the family tree is at the top of everything, which demands respect. It's not by force but by choice. The Creator of the Heavens and the earth calls us His own children; doesn't that stir something deep in our souls?

Every time Jesus instructed us on the proper way to pray, He started by saying, "Abba, Father." When we pray, we need to give over lordship to our Heavenly Father. It's one thing to say He's our Savior, but to say He's our Lord and Savior shows respect and obedience. So, praying “Abba, Father” means “Father, I will obey you.”

As we reflect on all the amazing things our Heavenly Father has done for us, let's give Him all the thanks and credit where it's due. I Will Obey You
