Olam

"Olam" is a Hebrew word that occurs more than four hundread times in the Hebrew scriptures. It is translated as "eternal," "everlasting," "forever," "lasting," "ever," or "ancient". It refers to the fullness of the experience of time or space. The name "El Olam" meaning "Eternal God" or "Everlasting God," appears only four times. The word is applied to God and His laws, promises, covenant and kingdom.

When did God begin? The answer is that He did not "begin;" He has always existed, and He always will exist. He is eternal, without beginning or end. He lived before He formed the mountains and brought the earth and the universe into existence. This is not merely something the Bible claims. It also gives support for the Intelligent design theory.

Intelligent design is a theory that the universe and its complex life forms cannot be explained solely by natural causes, and thus an intelligent higher Creator contributed to the origins of the universe. If a Creator exists, that means that Creator intentionally created the universe for some purpose. Therefore, we have a purpose. We don’t have to go out and create meaning in a seemingly meaningless life if an Intelligent Designer put thought into his creation, we have something that justifies our very existence.

Today, be thankful that our God never changes, He's the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. His promise and purpose for us is permanent and unchanging. El Olam
