The Hebrew word "El Elyon" translates into English as "God Most High" or "LORD Most High," which is used throughout Scripture to refer to our LORD, the Creator of the heavens, heaven, and Earth. "God Most High" or "LORD Most High" means there is no idol, god, or created being that should be worshiped or exalted above the Lord because He is superior in every way.

The name "El Elyon" teaches us that God is the One true God, and He is  the most powerful God. He is  the God who splits the sea, calms our storms, and is worthy of all our worship. When I think of God as Lord of Lords and King of Kings, I remember the first commandment: "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me." Exodus 20:2-3.

So today, rest assured that the one we pray to is "God Most High," and He has all authority. When He speaks, things come into existence, and when He acts, it is with power and certainty. El Elyon
